What animals out there are in need of field studies/research?

One land animal that needs more scrutiny is the "naked mole rat." The aging field has to some degree neglected this little bugger. It's about the same size as a mouse and lives 24 years longer. Some recent studies point to proteasome function and increased reducing enzymes as potential mechanisms to explain it's longer lifespan compared to a mouse. Little is known about naked mole rat cells and how they respond to stress either and whether or not they are more resistant to cancer or genomic perturbation.
