Bi-Polar Mood Stabilizers..what are the names of the meds used..Oggiemom?

I believe my partner is Bi-Polar ..at first i thought it was just her pregnant mood swings,,but the baby was born almost 2 months ago and she is on and off like a light switch,,i feel bad for her and cant handle her little tirades too much longer,,i love her and my baby..but what the F? is going on upstairs..she is the most loving caring woman then without provocation or anything too upsetting she is 100% opposite and even can be violent?? Iam an american currently living in her 3rd world country temporarily,,,she has agreed to go see a doctor at the best hospital here,,but i want to know some names of meds before i go,,to say Yes or No too...and does bi-polar appear later on in life or are they born with it..whatelse could it be besides Bi-polar from such climatic mood changes over nothing,,they few and far inbetween,,but when it happens its brutal..hey if it was me that was the problem..we both would know it,,but its not the case,,i cant leave her,,over this,,and i love her very much and of course our baby,,but when she is having a tirade or tantrum..its friggen scarey...100% opposite woman..2 personalities for sure..what to do???? to find her help..and what to ask for in getting her help...
